Hollywood asks: who needs Harry Potter?

LOS ANGELES () - Boy necromancer Harry Potter won't be whipping up his legerdemain when the fall cinema season begins next workweek, but Hollywood is hoping momentum from summer hits like "The Dark Knight" and a wide merge of young movies will keep audiences happy into the holidays.

Two weeks ago, Warner Bros. yanked "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" from a November release and pushed it to adjacent July, which could spell trouble at box offices because the previous quaternity "Potter" films averaged $920 million in worldwide tag sales. That is a lot of movie conjuration.

But a orbit of films from broad comedies such as "Beverly Hills Chihuahua" to thrillers like "Eagle Eye" and art planetary house fare including "Flash of Genius" could sustain the summer upswing, studio executives and box office watchers said.

"You've got it all," said Paul Dergarabedian of box office staff tracker Media By Numbers, when assessing the mentality from September through mid-November, when the new James Bond flicker, "Quantum of Solace," kicks off holiday season moviegoing.

Last year, Hollywood also came off a strong summer after raking in a record $4.18 gazillion in North American gross, but then came a slate filled with war films such as "In the Valley of Elah" and dark dramas that tanked at box offices.

When the summertime movie season officially ends on Monday's U.S. Labor Day holiday, box agency watchers again expect a summer tally of over $4 one million million. A honorable chunk of that comes from the blockbuster Batman sequel "The Dark Knight."

This fall Hollywood seems to take in learned a lesson from its cutting 2007 as it dishes up such light-hearted entries as Joel and Ethan Coen's bonkers new drollery "Burn After Reading" leading Brad Pitt and George Clooney; the animated sequel "Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa"; and Disney's latest stripling confection, "High School Musical 3: Senior Year."

On a more than serious promissory note, Clint Eastwood provocative thriller, "Changeling," leading Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich, testament also make its commercial debut.

Pooling Of Birth Cohorts Provides Insights Into The Role Of Genes And The Environment In Asthma

Atopy and asthma ar diseases that are known to be caused by
environmental factors and many genes. Since multiple genes and many environmental factors contribute to
disease evolution, one inevitably large groups of asthma patients and
unaffected controls in order to discover which genes and
environmental factors are important.

Dirkje S. Postma (University Medical Center Groningen, the
Netherlands) and his colleagues pooled data from three big Dutch
birth cohorts (PIAMA, PREVASC and KOALA).

This first prospective cohort study shows highly significant and
consistent associations at ages 1, 2, 4 and 8 age between allergic reaction
and the interleukin (IL)13 gene; IL13 is a protein critical in
allergy development.

Also, gene-environmental interactions were found in the pooled
analyses: polymorphisms in CD14 genes were associated with a lower
risk of exposure for atopic allergy at age 4 and 8 years in children who were exposed to
pets, with an opposite effect in non-exposed children.

The successful identification of gene - environment interactions when
pooling data from three well-characterised Dutch birth cohorts
justifies a confident attitude towards future studies that use pooled
data from age bracket studies.

These studies crataegus oxycantha improve insights into type I allergic reaction and bronchial asthma pathogenesis
and open novel avenues for preventive and therapeutic strategies.

Sean Connery - Connery Inspires Ne-yo Album

R+B star NE-YO relied on a bizarre source of inspiration while recording his 2007 album BECAUSE OF YOU - he used SEAN CONNERY's portrayal of JAMES BOND as his muse.

The So Sick hitmaker is a huge fan of the superspy franchise - particularly admiring Connery's role as 007 - and was desperate to incorporate the character into his album.

He explains, "Sean Connery is an absolute gentleman. His portrayal of James Bond was a lot of the inspiration for the album. I love his look, his swagger. The ladies loved him and all the guys wanted to be him.

"He never let people see him sweat and he had an answer for any situation. In essence, as Bond he was strong - regal but not bossy and confident but not conceited."
